Vaccines on the market
There are a number of vaccines on the market that are based on Isconova’s ISCOM technology. Below is a selection of the vaccines provided by our partners.
- Canvac CCi – Launched by Pfizer Animal Health in 2007 – Canvac CCi is the only inactivated, injectable Bordetella bronchiseptica (Bb) vaccine that contains the new adjuvant technology: Immunostimulating Complex. Unlike aluminium hydroxide adjuvants, Immunostimulating Complex induces not just humoral immunity, but also cell-mediated immunity, providing a more complete immune response.Studies have shown that Bb, the most important pathogen in canine cough, may be harboured intracellularly, causing chronic or relapsing clinical disease. Cell-mediated immunity is useful against intracellular pathogens, which are out of reach of humoral immune responses. So when it comes to protecting dogs against Bb, choose Canvac CCi.
- Equilis® Prequenza – Equine influenza vaccine launched 2006 by Intervet ( now part of Sheering Plough Animal Health ). On market in Europe. Since the launch in 2006 this vaccine has gained significant market share and is the leading horse influenza vaccine in several European countries. This is an inactivated vaccine containing purified antigens of the hemaglutinin (HA) of both European and American type of Newmarket equine A/2 influenza virus in a Iscom adjuvant.
- Pestigard® – Bovine Virus Diarrhea Virus Vaccine launched 2003 by CSL Animal Health Australia (now part of Pfizer Animal Health ). On market in Australia. To maximize protection, Pestigard® uses inactivated forms of two antigenetically different Type 1 strains of BVDV that have been isolated in Australia.
Pestigard® is indicated for the reduction of reproductive losses as a result of infection with BVDV virus, and also for the active immunization of cattle against BVDV.2
- Equity - Oestrus control vaccine for horses. Launched 2002 by CSL Animal Health (now part of Pfizer Animal Health ). On market in Australia.Equity is used for oestrus control and prevention of oestrus related behaviour in mares. Vaccination results in suppression of ovarian activity subsequently leading to reduced oestrus behavior.
- Equip – Equine influenza (1993, Schering-Plough. From Oct. 2008, Pfizer) On market since 1993 on license from Advet AB – now a subsidiary to Isconova. Established as a leading high quality horse influenza vaccine with significant market share in Europe. In September 2008, Equip was sold by Sheering – Plough to Pfizer Animal Health. The reason for the transfer was EU competition regulation, which required Sheering – Plough to sell the vaccine when Intervet was acquired, since Prequenza and Equip otherwise would hold a too dominating market share in Europe.
